From: Andrews, Richard [mailto:Richard.Andrews@stantec.com] Sent: Monday, November 23, 2009 12:07 PM To: Euliss, Amy Subject: Deep River Road Realignment Permit Amy, Per our conversation and the permit conditions required by NCDWQ, the culvert extension at UT-2 of the Deep River Road Realignement Project will be installed "in-the-dry". Due to the relatively small quantity of flow in UT-2, it can be characterized as primarily transporting storm water from the existing road during precipitation events. To comply with permit conditions, scheduling of the installation of the pipe will be done when zero flow is observed from the existing culvert. If flow is occuring at the time of construction, a temporary barrier will be installed at the outfall of the upstream catch-basin in order to stop flow during the construction and create dry conditions in the impacted stream channel. If dry conditions cannot be achieved from a barrier alone, a pump-around system will be used without creating any temporary impacts downstream.
