Subject: EEP Mitigation Acceptance Letter:
B-3876, Bridge 34 over Pig Basket Creek on SR 1004 (Taylor's Store
Road, Nash County; Tar-Pamlico River Basin (Cataloging Unit
03020101); Northern Inner Coastal Plain (NICP) Eco-Region
The purpose of this letter is to notify you that the Ecosystem Enhancement Program
(EEP) will provide the compensatory mitigation for the 0.013 acre of unavoidable riverine
wetland impact and 31 feet of unavoidable stream impact associated with the above referenced
project.
EEP will commit to implementing sufficient compensatory riverine wetland and stream
mitigation up to a 2:1 ratio to offset the impacts associated with this project by the end of the
MOA year in which this project is permitted, in accordance with Section X of the Memorandum
of Agreement between the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, N. C. Department of Environment and
Natural Resources, and N. C. Department of Transportation (Tri-Party MOA), signed on July 22,
2003. EEP understands the USACE will allow remaining high quality preservation assets to be
utilized as a component in the mitigation strategy at a 5:1 ratio. Therefore, EEP intends to utilize
high quality riverine wetland and stream preservation assets in the following manner:
High Quality Stream Preservation (5:1) in Same Eco-Region
Edwards, Nash County 155 feet stream
NICP Eco-Region 0.065 acre riverine
Tar-Pamlico River Basin, CU 03020102
The reminder of the required l :1 riverine wetland and stream mitigation will be in the
form of riverine wetland and stream restoration. Riverine wetland and stream restoration
mitigation assets available include, but are not limited to, Daniels Farm Number 1 and Daniels
Farm Number 2 mitigation sites. The subject TIP project is listed in Exhibit 2 of the Tri-Party
MOA.

B-3876, Replace Bridge Number 34 over the Pig Basket Creek on
SR 1004 (Taylor's Store Road), Nash County
The purpose of this letter is to notify you that the Ecosystem Enhancement Program
(EEP) will provide the compensatory riverine wetland and stream mitigation for the subject
project. Based on the information supplied by you in a letter dated September 8, 2005, the
impacts are located in CU 03020101 of the Tar-Pamlico River Basin in the Northern Inner
Coastal Plain (NICP) Eco-Region, and are as follows:
Riverine Wetland: 0.013 acre
Stream: 31 feet
As stated in your letter, the subject project is listed in Exhibit 2 of the Memorandum of
Agreement among the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the
North Carolina Department of Transportation, and the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers,
Wilmington District dated July 22, 2003. The compensatory stream mitigation for the subject
project will be provided in accordance with this agreement.
