Re; Bernhardt Furniture Plant 5 stormwater permit narrative
To whom it may concern:
Bernhardt Furniture Company operates Bernhardt Furniture Plant 5 which is located
at 1904 Morganton Blvd., Lenoir NC 28645. This factory manufactures plywood
frames for upholstery operations at other Bernhardt facilities.The SIC for Bernhardt
Plant 5 is 2511. Currently the facility addresses its storm water program under permit
NCG180000 with COC NCG180153.

Bernhardt Plant 5 burns wood waste as fuel for the boilers to generate comfort heat.
Prior to last winter we gave the dust away in the summer. During the following winter
we found ourselves having a short fall of dust to burn. We have since started
collecting our summer dust and storing it in a covered pile using concrete barriers,
tarps, and coir wattles to keep it from impacting our storm water.
During the last storm water inspection, I was advised by the inspector Isaiah Reed
that if we were going to keep the dust pile,that we should apply for NCG210000
even though it was for a SIC other than 2511. He also advised me that since the dust
only had the potential to impact one of my outfalls, that I should apply for a ROS so
that I only do analytical testing for the one outfall.
Enclosed with this cover letter is the NCG210000 permit application,the ROS f
application and the site maps.
