Dear Mr. Thornburg,
The Town is in receipt of your email dated June 24, 2020 concerning the renewal of the above
referenced Land Application Permit. The Town of Mayodan was informed by the landowners of
the property included in the Land Application Permit that they would no longer participate in the
land application program. The Town has not identified any other property to include in the Permit.
As an alternative to managing the disposal of the biosolids generated by the Mayodan
Wastewater Treatment Plant (NPDES Permit No. NC0021873), the Town has entered into an
agreement with Synagro to incorporate the Town's biosolids in their land application permit. It is
my understanding that Synagro will be submitting a request to the State to add Mayodan and the
supporting land base to their land application permit.
The Town of Mayodan is requesting Permit No. WQ0002672 be rescinded. Please
provide the necessary forms to complete this request. If circumstances change with
Synagro, the Town will submit an application request to receive a new Land Application
Permit.
