Inspection Summary:
Met with Robert Young, Director of Operations Hamlet NC, and Dennis Rineheart, Corporate EH&S, to review the facility's
Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SPPP) and any Qualitative (visual) Monitoring records since the previous inspection
that was conducted on July 11, 2019, which resulted in the issuance of a Notice of Violation for failure to conduct and record
Qualitative Monitoring. Facility's current SPPP is dated August 2019 and contains all permit -required components along with
associated documentation pertaining to preventative maintenance and housekeeping, facility inspections, and employee
training. Facility personnel were reminded to document the annual review and update requirements per Part II, Section A,
item 8 of the NCG180000 permit. Records indicating visual inspections and monitoring of the facility's two stormwater
discharge outfalls in August of 2019 and February of 2020 were available for review. Use of the Qualitative Monitoring Report
form to better document the specific discharge characteristics as listed in the permit was recommended and a copy of the
monitoring form was provided during the inspection. After the records review, observations of site conditions were conducted
including the sawdust collection area, used pallet storage, dumpsters and the stormwater outfalls. Observations were also
made of the on -going efforts to address significant erosion that has occurred along the area adjacent to the roadway and
drainage ditch leading to outfall 2 on the west side of the facility. At the time of inspection, facility appeared to be very well
operated and maintained.
