Description of Process The City Collection system consists of approximately 18.25 miles of gravity sewer, approximately 2.0 miles of pressure sewer, approximately 14 miles of force main, 35 pump stations and all associated piping and valves and apparatus required to make a complete and operational wastewater collection system to serve the City of Southport. 3. System Improvements 1. City replaced Filter Media at Central lift station Odor Control Unit 2. City replaced Rotor Assembly Element Moore Street Lift station 3. Citypurchased Two Back upRotor Elements for backupof other Gorman Rupp Stations. 4. City purchased Two backup WGL-20 Pumps for Prizes Creek Lift station 5. City purchased Two new pumps for Turtle wood Moore lift station 6. City had contractor make two sewer main repairs on Fodale Ave. switch City had electrical contractor install new transfers t ch for emergency g y backup generator at W. West lift station. 8. City had electrical contractor replace 50 KW Generators at Park Ave. Lift station. 9. City had electrical contractor replace 45 KW Generator at 9th Street lift Station. 10. City had electrical contractor go thru 14 lift station and rebuild our motor starters at them lift stations. 11. City had electrical contractor replace Automatic transfer switch at 9th Street lift Station. 12. City had electrical contractor replace transfer switch at Park Ave. Lift Station. 13. City had Electrical contractor install new soft starter at Central lift Station. 14. City had Electrical contractor replace 60 AMP breaker for pump # 1 at Moore Street lift Station. 15. City had Electrical contractor replace Automatic transfer switch at Indigo lift Station. 16. City crew replaced Gorman/Rupp T-3 pump at 9th Street lift Station. 17. City crew replaced 4-inch check valve at Forest Oaks Lift Station. 18. City crew replaced Two pumps and impellers and shredder ring and capacitors at Price's e,s Creek Lift Station. 19. City crew replaced Electrical motors at all 4 Gorman /Rupp lift Stations — Leonard Street, Moore Street, 9th Street, Park Ave. EXT. (due to age) 20. City crew bought a replacement pump and lift out carrier Hydromatic S4MXP1000EC at Indigo lift Station. 21. City crew replaced Hydromatic pump # S4L1500M3-4 at Landing Lift Station. 22. City crew bought a 10 HP. Pump model # 10-S4M1000M3-466 Hydromatic and installed at Forest Oaks lift Station. 23. City crew installed new motor on odor control unit at central lift Station. 24. City crew installed emergency bypass at 9th street lift station. 25. Contractor installed emergency bypass at Park Ave Lift Station 26. Contractor installed emergency bypass at W.West Lift Station. 27. City of Southport signed a contract with McAdams & Associates to work with City and Golden Leaf Fund grant of which the City was awarded for $990,000.00 to replace sewer main on Howe Street from Stuart Ave to Bay Street. 28. City had Contractor Replace GEN SET Transfer Switch at Public Works. 29. The City signed a contract with McAdams & Associates to provide Consultant services in seeking a grant thru the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) for a Facilities Assessment of the Wastewater system. Which the City was awarded a grant for $19,800,000.00 30. The City of Southport Board Voted to have staff work with Brunswick County to treat City wastewater flows. 31. City replaced fencing at Bay Street lift station 32. City replaced 15 HP. Motor at Park AVE. lift station 4. System performance for Fiscal year July 2019- July 2020 As noted earlier, the City also operates 35 sewer lift stations in our system. Spare parts and pumps are in inventory for their maintance needs. In the past year their performance was outstanding, and only a few minor repairs were needed. 1. The City was awarded a grant this year for either building our own Waste Treatment or going with Brunswick County in up grading their plant to take City Wastewater flow. 2. The City of Southport on 6/16/2020- had a Sanitary Sewer overflow that resulted in 59,000 gallons of untreated wastewater spilling into Cottage storm came thru resultingin a rain fall of 17 inches during Creek. The the event. All City pump station were operating like they were design to. The spill was caused by I&I and inflow entering our sewer system. The City was awarded a grant this year to replace some of our infrastructure along Howe Street which was built back in 1913.
