Report of Infiltration jesting
Randolph Pointe. Apartments Phase 2.
Fort Bragg, North Carolina
ECS Project Nuniberr.33.1923
March 19, 2012
ECS reviewed the,Report of Subsurface Exploration,and Geotechnical' EvMbation,for the:Senior
Unaccompanied Housing, Fort Bragg, North Carolina prepared by Building and Earth, dated
Aptil '16,2007. The subsurface conditionsrat the site were explored on February 26,`27, and 28,
2007 through the completion of twenty-two.soil"test . borings (B-1, through B'=22). The soil test
borings: were advanced to depths ranging from 10 :to 30 feet below the existing site grades.
Groundwater wasobserved in boring 8=17 at a depth of 21 feet below the, ground surface
shortly after the completion ofdrilling operations: This boring was rechecked after 24-hours and
the stabilized groundwater level was observed at 20 feet below the ground surface. Isolated
pockets of groundwater were observed in borings B=5 and B-8 at:a depth of '1.4 feet below the
ground surface during drilling operations. These two borings were rechecked, after 24-hours
and'found to be dry above. the -cave-in depths of 17-% 'and 18 feet. Based on the Building and
Earth report, it° is our opinion, that the SHWT observed during our March 6 and 7., 2012
exploration is due to_ perch water and the historical SHWT at -the site exists at greater depths
below the ground surface_ Perched groundwater conditions would be expected. at. this site when
absorbed surface: water becomes trapped in the silty sand surface soils overlying firmer clayey
sand and sandy clay soils
ECS•also conducted infiltration tests utilizing a.conipact head permearrleter hear the hand auger
borings -and at the bottom of the test pit to estimate the infiltration rate fothe subsurface soils.
lnfiltration, tests are typically conducted at two feet above the SHWT. If_ rthe SHWT;is less than
three feet, the tests are conducted at ten inches below the surface elevation. Infiltration tests
were also conducted at the proposed bottom of'the BMP's.

Robert,
We met a few weeks ago regarding the subject project. As requested, we coordinated with Marti
Morgan to ensure there are no issues with this site related to DWM regulated sites or features. Please
let us know if this email correspondence between Ms. Morgan and our owner's representative is
sufficient. We plan and submitting for the stormwater permit within the next two weeks.
