Wastewater Treatment Facilities

Dear Mr. Thompson:
A letter of request for Authorization to Construct was received October 3, 1986,
by the Division and final plans and specifications for the subject project have been
reviewed and found to be satisfactory. Authorization is hereby granted for the
construction of a 0.035 MGD wastewater treatment facility consisting of a 36 GPM
influent pump station with dual grinder pumps and high-water alarm, a 35,000 gallon
capacity aeration tank with dual 140 CFM blowers, a 5900 gallon capacity clarifier. a
2618 gallon capacity sludge holding tank, a 2400 gallon capacity baffled chlorine
contact tank with hypochlori.nator, a recording effluent flow meter, and associated
valves, piping, fittings and appurtenances to serve Hunters Glen Subdivision.
This Authorization to Construct is issued in accordance with Part III paragraph C
of the NPDES Permit No. NC0067288 issued April 23, 1987, and shall be subject to
revocation unless the wastewater treatment facilities are constructed in accordance
with the conditions and'limitati.ons specified in Permit No. NC0067288.
The Permittee must employ a certified wastewater operator in accordance with Part
TIT paragraph D of the referenced permit.
The sludge generated from these treatment facilities must be disposed of in
accordance with. G.S. 1.43-21.5.1 and in a manner approvable by the North Carolina
Division of Environmental Management.

The Asheville Regional Office, Phone No. 704/253-3341, shall be notified at least
twenty-four (24) hours in advance of start-up of the installed facilities so that an
in -place inspection can be made of said system prior to operation. Such notification
to the Regional Supervisor shall be made during the normal office hours from 8:00 a.m.
until 5:00 p.m. on. Monday through Friday, excluding State Holidays.
In event the facilities fail to perform satisfactorily In meeting its NPDES
permit effluent limits, the Pe.r.m=i.ttee shall take such immediate corrective action as
may be r.egiair.ed by this Division, including the construction of additional wastewater
treatment and disposal facilities.
