Comment: I met Clement Riddle and Britten Yant from C1earWater at the Brickhaven Mine Site in Lee County
today. We walked the two wetlands being monitored onsite located adjacent to the landfill operation
(DWR permit 15-0041-42, condition 3).
Both of the areas monitored still appear to be wetlands. The wetland boundaries may have shifted
slightly, but not noticeably as we walked the length of each feature. I did not see any obvious indication
of loss of hydrologic function. Both wetlands may be experiencing vegetation transitions based on edge
effect and tree falls, which have opened the canopy in different areas.
The only possible consideration/concern I could see about completely discontinuing the monitoringis s if
there are any issues with discharges from the two stormwater detention basins adjacent to the wetland
areas during the landfill closure activity. But currently evejtag appears stable.
