PROJECT SUMMARY: The applicant is proposing to replace an existing bridge with a new 135' long by 28' wide bridge. r NORTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION Bridge #105 over Broad Creek Beaufort County Environmental setting The project that is being proposed at this time is the replacement of NC DOT Bridge #105 on SR 1326 across Broad Creek in Beaufort County. The section of SR 1326 on which the bridge is located is a rural unpaved road. Broad Creek at this location has been channelized. The existing bridge has a length of 138' and a width of 20'. Navigation clearance beneath the existing bridge is 6 foot 6 inches above the NWL. Other than an existing spoil berm which extends along the eastern side of the creek, areas which border the creek are vegetated with wetland vegetation consisting predominately by red maples, myrtles and some pines. Project proposal The applicant is proposing to replace the existing bridge along the existing alignment. The new bridge will be 135' long and will have a width of 28'. Navigation clearance beneath the bridge will not change and will remain at 6 foot 6 inches. Very little shoulder modifications will be required, only a slight amount of upland excavation will be required. Environmental impact The project as proposed should have a minimal environmental impact. No wetland vegetation, nor public trust areas, will be excavated and/or filled. David L.
