ER@190WI-P. JAN 0 6 2010 DENR - WATER QUALITY WETLANDS AND STORMWATERt BRANCH On behalf of the owners, Belmeade Farms, LLC, this letter is to inform you that the above project has been modified to further reduce the overall impacts to the streams onsite. The originally approved impacts are illustrated in the following table: Stream Impact Number (indicate on ma Stream Name Type of Impact Perennial or Intermittent? Average Stream Width Before Impact Impact Length linear feet Area of Impact (acres) Crossing #1 Harlands Creek Utility (Temporary) Perennial +/-321 57 0.042 Crossing # 2 UT to Harlands Creek Utility (Temporary) Perennial +/- 15' 57 0.020 Crossing #5 UT to Harlands Creek Utility (Temporary) Intermittent +/- 7' 72 0.010 Crossing #6 Harlands Creek Utility (Temporary) Perennial +/- 27' 55 0.032 Crossing #7 UT to Harlands Creek Culvert (Permanent) Perennial +/- 12' 88.5 0.020 Crossing #7 UT to Harlands Creek Utility (Temporary) Perennial +/- 12' 36 0.009 Crossing #7 UT to Harlands Creek Construction (Temporary) Perennial +/- 12' 7 0.001 Crossing #8 UT to Harlands Creek Culvert (Permanent) Intermittent +/-101 143 0.020 Crossing #8 UT to Harlands Creek Utility (Temporary) Intermittent +/-101 28 0.006 Crossing #8 UT to Harlands Creek Construction (Temporary) Intermittent +/-101 7 0.001 Crossing #9 UT to Harlands Creek Culvert (Permanent) Perennial +/-91 160 0.031 Crossing #9 UT to Harlands Creek Utility (Temporary) Perennial +/-91 65 0.009 Crossing #9 UT to Harlands Creek Construction (Temporary) Perennial +/-9' 7 0.001 Total Stream Impact (by length and acreage) 782.5 0.202 Charlotte Office: Greensboro Office: 236 LePhillip Court, Suite C 3817-E Lawndale Drive Concord, NC 28025 Greensboro, NC 27455 Phone: (704) 720-9405 Phone: (336) 540-8234 Fax: (704) 720-9406 Fax: (336) 540-8235 It should be noted that of the originally permitted stream impacts, only 249 linear feet of stream were permanent impacts to important/perennial channels. After revising the internal roadway infrastructure, the owners have been able to further reduce the final, permanent stream impacts to important/perennial channels to 88.5 linear feet (i.e. below the 150 linear foot impact mitigation threshold), and therefore, payment into the Ecosystem Enhancement Program (EEP) is no longer required. The following is a brief, narrative summary of the changes that have occurred on site. Crossings 1 and 2 remain unchanged as bridges (no impacts) and the associated temporary utility impacts to the adjacent streams (as utilities cannot be suspended from the bridge). Crossings 5 and 6 were bridges with associated temporary utility impacts (as noted in Crossings 1 and 2 above) and have since been removed from the project. Crossings 7 and 8 remain unchanged as culvert crossings with associated temporary utility impacts. Crossing 9 has been relocated off of the perennial stream channel therefore reducing the proposed permanent, perennial stream impact by 160 linear feet. The temporary utility impacts associated with this crossing have also been removed. A new bridge crossing of a UT to Harlands Creek has been added due to the realignment of the internal roads. This bridge. structure will completely span the tributary and will have no utility impacts associated with,it. These changes are also illustrated in the attached revised overall site plan, Crossing 9 relocation (plan and profile view) and Crossing 10 (bridge plan and profile view). The following table illustrates the changes to the overall impacts to streams on the project site: Stream Impact Number (indicate on ma Stream Name Type of Impact Perennial or Intermittent?
