For the most part this is not much more than FYI for now I guess, but I was looking at the Cool Run site for our
upcoming field meeting in a couple weeks and wanted to make the IRT and DMS aware of a current DOT
project in the area. Earlier this week a meeting was held to select alternatives to carry forward for the
Carolina Bays Parkway R-5876. I've attached a file with some visuals, but it appears 2 of the alternatives that
are going to be carried forward would impact the mitigation site. I've also copied the USACE and DWR project
managers for the DOT project. There are still alternatives that can avoid the site, there may also be room
within the study corridor to avoid it, but something very similar happened years ago on the Goldsboro bypass
and a mitigation bank (bear creek I think). That issue was not realized until ROW acquisition and it was a mess.
So heads up.
