Notice of Violation and Intent to Assess Civil Penalty
Dear Mr. Tharrington:

JUN. 18 2020
Aqua North Carolina, Inc. (Aqua) offers the following response to the above -referenced Notice of
Violation and Intent to Assess Civil Penalty; this was for enterococci daily maximum exceedance and a
monthly geometric mean exceedance in March 2020.
Aaua's Response:
The Cape WWTF had a daily exceedance for Enterococcl March 27", 2020, resulting in a
Monthly geometric Mean exceedance.
The plant was upset due to a blower Issue. During Hurricane Florence the Plant was
shutdown due to some electrical gear near the blower building being flooded. This
Equipment was relocated to a higher elevation to prevent this from becoming a
recurring issue, The moved electrical gear cabinet over heated causing the blowers to
trip. AQUA since had a contractor install a fan and vent to lower the temperature in the
cabinet. This Issue has not recurred since this repair was made. Attached is a copy of
the invoice for the work.
If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me at (910) 270-1412.
