NPDES Permit— Draft Review Comments
Ardagh Glass Inc. (AGI) has the following comment on the draft NPDES renewal permit.
Part 1.A.(2.) Acute Toxicity Monitoring (Annual)
The draft language has changed from "The Permittee will conduct one test per discharge, ..." to "The
Permittee will conduct one test annually,..." In addition, the monitoring requirements outlined in the
renewal table at Part 1, A. (1.) specify that monitoring is to occur with each discharge. AGI rarely
discharges to the permitted outfall, typically only when the furnace(s) is/are drained. Therefore, it is
requested that the renewal permit language in Part 1.A.(2.) remain the same as in the previous permit
("The Permittee will conduct one test per discharge,..."). This request is in alignment with the
measurement frequency specified in the renewal Part 1.A.(1.) table.
