A copy of the General Certification is attached. This Certification may be used in qualifying for coverage under Corps of Engineers' Nationwide Permit No. 14. The North Carolina Department of Transportation proposes to replace bridge #40 over Long Creek on SR 1527 in Martin County. It is proposed to replace the present bridge with three (3) 137" by 87" corrugated steel pipe arches (CSPA). The proposed activity will result in the filling in of 0.02 acres of wetlands and 0.01 acres of fill in waters of the U.S., as well as 0.01 acres of excavation of wetlands. It is anticipated that this construction activity qualifies for Federal authorization pursuant to the pre- discharge notification provisions set forth in Nationwide Permit 33 CFR 330.5(a)(14). Application is hereby made for Department of Army permits as required for such activities. Enclosed please find a pre-discharge notification foyxm and permit drawings for this project. We are also . qu ing a 401 Water Quality Certification from the Divisi, of_ Environmental Management. By copy of this letter we are also requesting comments from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and National Marine Fisheries Service regarding the presence of any federally listed or proposed threatened or endangered species or critical habitat, and from the State Historic Preservation Office regarding the presence of any historic properties in the area.
