In accordance with Part VII, Section B of the "Special Conditions" section of expired NPDES Permit No, NC0083887, Douglas International International Airport (CLT) is providing information summarizing the amount of glycol and urea dispensed on the
property during the winter season spanning from October 2019 through April 2020, The Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR)
for May 2020 is additionally included.
The total amount of aircraft de-icing fluid (ADF) used was reported to be 34,776 gallons prior to dilution. Of this amount,
almost all was sprayed by our service provider, International Deicing Services, Inc. (IDS). Their services are administered on
behalf of CLT to all regularly scheduled domestic carriers providing flights to and from CLT, as well as UPS Cargo. For General
Aviation, which includes private and corporate flights handled by Wilson Air Center, the amount of ADF used totals 82 gallons
prior to dilution.
No urea was dispensed at CLT during the 2019-2020 winter season, The Airport no longer purchases urea for deicing oranti-
gactivities and now uses sodium formate as our primary solid deicer to minimize our environmental impact.
The quantities presented for the 2019-2020 winter season represent a decrease when compared with what was reported to
your agency for the 2018-2019 winter season. This decrease is attributed to warmer temperatures and a reduced volume of
frozen precipitation over the 2019-2020 winter season.
