I am providing another update on the SFC Dredge Maintenance Project for the end of the week. The
State Dredge Manteo continues to battle through challenges with weather, strong tidal conditions,
and furloughs, which have shortened the days. As of the start of this week, NC DOT had reported
that they had progressed approximately 650 ft and had approximately the same amount of distance
remaining. They are making progress across the most shoaled in area; however, they will not be
completed by Monday (June 15).
The USACE permit and associated coordination allows for relief through the end of June; however,
the NC DCM has only granted relief through June 15. Dare County has requested additional relief
from the NC DCM and we are awaiting word on a decision.

Just providing a quick update on progress at South Ferry Channel (Hatteras Inlet). DOT
continues to make progress with the Dredge Manteo. That said, State furloughs are going to
impact dredge crews starting this week, which may slow the progress. We are working with
NC DOT to get an update on progress, and projection of a completion date. If we believe
additional time will be needed to achieve the required navigation connection, we will notify all
of you as soon as we have some hard numbers on additional time needed.

Please find attached the updated plans discussed on our pre -construction call on May 11. The
updated plans show the survey data collected by DOT within the channel on May 6, 2020. The cross
sections shown on sheet 4 of 4 also indicate that DOT intends to dig to the max depth allowed by the
permit, which is -12.0 MLLW or -11.92 MLW. The total volume above the -12.0 MLLW within the
channel has been computed to be approximately 141,000 cy. Please note that it is not the DOT's
intention to remove all of the volume in the channel above the -12.0 MLLW, but rather to cut a
channel across the most heavily shoaled areas of the channel.
The dredge continued work throughout the weekend. We will provide another update at the end of
the week.

I'm writing to provide you an end of week update on the progress of the South Ferry Channel
maintenance dredging. As previously stated, dredging began on May 15. The dredge was shut down
on Monday for weather associated with Tropical Storm Arthur and on Weds and Thurs for
maintenance. The dredge is back up and running today and is making progress.

We will be able to provide the updated plan drawings on Tuesday of next week at which point, I'll
provide another update.

I am writing to inform you that maintenance dredging operations of the South Ferry Channel near
Hatteras Inlet began on Friday (May 15). Dredge operations are being conducted with the NC DOT
pipeline Dredge Manteo. The work is being done under Dare County's Dept. of Army Permit SAW-
2016-02140 and CAMA Major Permit 129-16. We are waiting to receive pre -construction survey
data from the NC DOT to update the plan drawings. We hope to be able to provide those updated
plans this week.
