the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System for our facility under construction at 641 Plato Lee Road in
Shelby, Cleveland County, North Carolina.
Construction of the facility is expected -to be complete during 2014 with production activities scheduled to begin
before year's end.
Enclosed are Forms 1 and 2F. Much of the information on Form 2F cannot be provided until the facility becomes
operational, though details are provided where available. The Shelby facility will be the first KSM Castings production

• Just now we found the application: it was date stamped into our unit on May 4, 2014.
• 1 completed a screening review of the application on May 9, 2014.
• At that point we had determined to return the application and request instead that the facility submit
application for coverage under our General Permit NCGO30000 Metal Fabrication, using the NOI form on our
website. Because we intended to return the application we did not log it in or enter it into our database as an
active application.
• At this point our process broke down and we did not initiate the next communication step with Mr.
Schwark. We apologize for our oversight and delay. Thank you for following up on it.
So, going forward from today:
• Today we will return the unprocessed application and check for $860 to Mr. Schwarck with instructions to
submit the N01 for NCG03 and a check for $100.
• 1 will be glad to copy you on our return memo if you will send me a street address for Aeris.
• Please contact me at the information below if we need to discuss further.
• As to the already incurred delay and the remaining schedule: Assuming that we receive the new N01 in the next
three weeks, we still can turn around the NCG03 ap iication nicker than it would take us to process the original
application already in hand.

inpul factors:
1 believe they correctly identify their SIC as SIC 3368, Aluminum Die Castings.
SIC major Group 33 is captured by the federal rule. A stormwater permit is required for any stormwater discharges.
The EPA MSGP Sector F4 non-ferrous metals casting covers SIC 3368, and calls for testing for Cu and Zn, but not
aluminum.
NCG03 calls for Cu, Pb, and Zn, but not aluminum.
The North Carolina aluminum benchmark is 0.75 mg/L.
We are currently seeking to speed up all possible aspects of our process.
1 think we hove a choice here.
Accept and process the EPA 1 and 2F application for an NCS
tSu_ ggest that they fill_out. an NOl far,NCG03, and j
o utilize an augmented COC to include aluminum in the monitoring suite.
o This arrangement would necessitate a contact with them to see if they are amenable to filling out an NOl
for coverage under NCG03.
