Division of Water Quality DWR SECTIO,,. Aftn: DWQ Central Files 1617 Mail Service Center Raleigh, NC 27699-1617 Dear Sir or Maddam: Enclosed are the results of January 2020 Monthly Storm Water Discharge Outfall Monitoring Report. After two consecutive tests with pH being out of range, June and October of 2019, we started monthly sampling per the tiered responses laid out in our Storm Water Permit. December testing showed similar results with pH out of range on the low end. In December, we sampled virgin rainwater using plastic pools to capture the rainwater before it contacted our property. We found then that the pH of the rainwater coming to us was a 4.8 pH. We sampled virgin rainwater again in January for this test and again, we found the pH of the virgin rainwater to be 4.3 pH. We have exceedances for Copper in Outfalls 2 and 3, and an exceedance for Zinc at Outfall 2. We were granted relief from the Tiered responses for our Copper and Zinc exceedances in January of 2015. We have had two consecutive tests from December 2019 and January 2020 where the rainwater falling on our property has measured at a 4.8 and 4.3 pH respectively. We would like to request relief from the monthly sampling tiered responses as the rainwater falling on our property is already out of the benchmark range. Please let us know if we can discontinue the monthly sampling. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. For purposes of this permit the definition of Total Toxic Organics is that definition contained in the EPA Effluent Guidelines for the facility subject to the requirement to sample (for metal finishing use the definition as found in 40 CFR 433.11; for semiconductor manufacture use the definition as found in 40 CFR 469.12; for electronic crystal manufacture use the definition as found in 40 CFR 469.22; and for cathode ray tube manufacture use the definition found in 40 CFR 469.31). The solvent management plan shall include a list of the total toxic organic compounds used and the other elements listed in the General Permit. For those facilities electing to employ the TTO monitoring waiver, the discharger shall sign the following certification statement: "Based upon my inquiry of the person or persons directly responsible for managing compliance with the permit monitoring requirement for total toxic organics (TTO), l certify that to the best of my knowledge and belief, no dumping of concentrated toxic organics into the stormwater or areas which are exposed to rainfall or stormwater runoff has occurred since filing the last discharge monitoring report.
