There is currently discharge from this mine during every rain event. Discharge is through silt fence that discharges to a ditch drainage system that discharges to a creek just downstream of the site. During several heavy rain events cloudy water has been observed in the creek. Much of this may be due to an inert debris site next to the mine that is now permitted with an erosion and sediment control permit. The discharge from dewatering does go through a series of sediment basins before it leaves the site. My suggestion is that drainage areas be provided that provide drainage areas and discharge points. Adequate erosion and sediment control measures should be installed at all discharge points and calculations should be provided that show the water leaving the site is treated adequately to not have a negative impact on the receiving water body.
