PART IV - EVALUATION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The permittee requests renewal of the subject Permit which
authorizes the discharge of contact cooling water from two (2)
autoclaves used for curing retreaded t-ires, During the site
visit, a discharge from an air compressor unit was observed,
which should he included in the Permit upon renewal as outfall
002.
The discharges from this facility do not enter the receiving
stream by a direct conveyance, rather they empty onto the ground
behind the building and meander through a wooded area owned by
the company. Most of the contact cooling water used by the
autoclaves is recycled. When a discharge is necessary, it is
usually on an infrequent basis (3-5 times per month). Most of the
water discharged either soaks into the ground or is lost to
evaporation before reaching the receiving stream.
It is recommended that the Permit be renewed.
