I suppose since she's the main person I've been in contact with I don't need the form. I'll kick out the application for Sommer and it should go out this week. For Jamie Baker, Randy is going to go to his property later today and get better photos of the tree for you. Send all suspicious email as an attachment Yes, the online submission is new to us, so I figured it would entail a learning curve. I will have Randy circle the tree for Jamie Baker and give any details as needed. He has signed the form and I will submit that to you as well as soon as Randy signs for the Contractor. We have another client with this same issue. She chose to submit the forms with our guidance and was not aware of the 2 trees to be removed on her property. They are both in photos that were submitted, I believe and are leaning over the lake. Her name is Sommer Eperthener and you have been in contact with her. Do we need to address this as well? I believe you have her signed form. Thanks for your help, Kim On Mon, Jun 8, 2020 at 8:39 AM Perez, Douglas J <doug_perezkncdenr.gov> wrote: Hello, On your application, on page 12 which is the drawing of the shoreline, there is a tree (shown in red) for removal. Can you send me pictures of said tree? None of the pictures in your application showed this tree. Once I see these pictures, we can decide if anything needs to be included in the approval. Typically, when trees that aren't severely undermined or diseased, are requested to be removed, we ask for a tree to be re -planted in its place. Please get me those pictures if at all possible. There are two items in your requirements that are new requirements to us. 1. Re -planting trees has not been a prior requirement in other Shoreline Certification Approvals that we've done over the years. 2. We've been able to show Alan or your office photos of undermined trees to propose removal. There has never been an additional step of hiring a licensed arborist. Will you please confirm, as this will be a costly, additional process for all of our Clients now and in the future. Thank you, Kim On Thu, Jun 4, 2020 at 12:22 PM Perez, Douglas J <doug_perezkncdenr.gov> wrote: Hello, I am emailing you today about your shoreline stabilization application. There are two things I wanted to note. The first, is that you will need to fill out, sign, and return to me a Catawba Riparian Buffer form. I have attached it here. The second relates to the first. In the form, you will note that trees of 3" diameter or greater at shoulder height are NOT to be removed. Unless the trees are severely diseased or critically undermined. If said trees are, then they must be replaced by trees of 3" diameter at shoulder height and 6'-8' tall and placed somewhere within the 30' buffer. Similarly, if said trees are diseased or undermined, photographic documentation must be presented to this office along with documentation from a licensed arborist stating as such. If you could clarify these issues, I can continue working on your application.
