In response to the NOV of March 26, 2020, please be advised of she following:
The Town was given a Notice of Violation (NOV) due to excel- dance of a weekly limit of fe ,.2i
coliform during the month of August, 2019. As you are well aware, the fecai Loliform Sample i,-.

swampy environment. The area is meticulously observed for these conditions during sampling
to prevent contamination from environmental influences such as frogs, tadpoles, minnows, fish,
birds, crawfish, turtles, snakes and other plant and animal !ife.
However, an occasional problem may arise due to such envir%nmental conditions. I must pcin-;
out our employees responsible for taking the samples have donee an excellent job of ccntro;ling
these conditions to ensure proper procedures are followed. Visual inspection of the sample
provides a true representation of the waste water stream and v 0LIld not include a "'a. pok-Z or
something that would result in a NOV.
A review of The Town's wastewater sampling history indicate; -,ur staff is doing a rood jnh
following the correct sampling techniques as there have been eery few NOV's issued for this;
type of exceedance in many years.
It should also be noted that the Town's contracting lab has been advised that such violations
may be mitigated by doing follow up samples the same week when we are notified of a of an
exceedance. In this particular case a notice to the Town was not provided by the lab for
additional sampling.
To reiterate, the Town has an excellent history of compliant wastewater sampling and would
appreciate your consideration in withdrawing the NOV.
Sincerely,
Goldston Womble, Jr.
