Biltmore Farms Development Project
Dear Mr. Thomason:
On February 18, 2020 the Division of Water Resources, Water Quality Programs (Division)
issued a public notice regarding your application dated November 12, 2019, requesting a 401
Water Quality Certification from the Division for your project. The public comment period
remained open until April 20, 2020.
The Division received a comment requesting that Biltmore Farms partner with the US
Geological Survey (USGS) to install a real-time water quality monitoring meter downstream of
the proposed bridge. The comment references the commitment that NCDOT has taken, in
partnership with USGS, by installing six water quality monitoring probes to monitor any
potential impact they may have from construction of the 1-26 widening project.

The Division requests that you contact the USGS and/or NCDOT to investigate any opportunities
