Inspection Summary:
Site inspection at Carolina Technical Plastics located at 901 Industrial Dr at the Craven Industrial Park near New Bern, NC
Company engaged in business of injection molding of plastic parts; operates under SIC code 3089. Applied for NE
Certification 12/30/2019. The following observations/comments are provided:
1) Significant number (several 1000) plastic crates stored outside on wood pallets. These were empty returned crates &
appeared to be clean & free of any product or residue. Company reps indicated it would probably not be feasable to relocate
these crates under roof at this time.
2) There were several open dumpsters with trash/debris located outside. These could be covered to eliminate contamination
& exposure issues.
3) "Caged -Poly" type oil storage container located outside; minor oil spill/residue around tank & on adjacent pavement.
Company workers were in the process of cleaning the spill & moving tank inside during my presence.
4) Stormwater runoff sheet flows from the outside yard to storm drains that flow to a permitted State Stormwater wet
detention pond system.
These were considered to be minor issues that the company could address in short order. Providing a copy of this
inspection report to company reps & requesting that they contact me as soon as they have addressed these issues. Will
send NEC approval letter after proper follow-up with company.
