HomeMy WebLinkAbout20200709 Ver 1_G5i_PercussiveActivities_20200528The existing Matheson Avenue roadway includes an existing bridge span of a Norfolk Southern Rail yard and LYNX Blue Line Extension. This bridge is located in a highly urbanized area and spans the noisy transportation facilities noted above. Proposed work on the bridge span consists of eliminating travel lanes to implement bicycle facilities and improvements to the existing sidewalks. The bridge barriers will be replaced and the existing deck structure will be demolished for a new concrete overlay. All improvements are within the existing bridge footprint; the bridge will not be widened. Percussive activities and typical construction equipment noise will occur as a result of this maintenance; however, blasting is not needed. The proposed bridge work will not result in impacts to Waters of the US. The one minor stream impact associated with this project is located approximately 600 feet west of the bridge and south of the roadway, at the road embankment's toe of slope. A flared end section and rip rap apron will be placed in 28 linear feet of intermittent tributary at the end of a stormwater outfall.
