Subject: Byrds Creek Site Notes
Todd/Kim,
I met Melonie, John and Jason onsite this morning. We did not walk the entire site, rather targeted specific areas of
concern.
Repair areas —
• Byrds Creek Reach 1 (E2) - The boulder toe meander repair looked stable, some minor movement of boulders
but primarily intact. The bank that was pulled back has veg cover.
• West Branch (E2) — Repair areas looked fairly stable; veg cover on bank; live stakes sprouting.
Supplemental plantingareas—
• Walked floodplain along Byrds Creek Reach 2 and then popped in to check points along Reach 3 and Reach 4.
Live stakes were sprouting. Most floodplain stems were leafed -out. There were 2-3 noticeable open area
patches, but they did have solid herb cover and a few container size stems present.
Other observations —
Veg — In areas without beaver damage, veg is well established and vigor is good. Lots of sweetgum coming up in
open areas and the additional buffer easement area. Patches of multiflora rose.
• Structures — Constructed riffles and sills looked stable.
• Multiple large down trees across the stream; none impeding flow. Very high wrack lines in floodplain; pockets of
standing water.
Closeout Recommendation — DWR is ok to closeout as -is without contingencies
I did take a few photos, which I can share upon request.
Many thanks,
Erin
