Subject: Former Coal Pile Additional Assessment Work Plan — Approval
Buck Combined Cycle Station
Dear Mr. Draovitch:
On May 22, 2020, the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Division of Water
Resources (Division) received the proposed Former Coal Pile Additional Assessment Work Plan for
the Buck Combined Cycle Station. On May 22, 2020, the Division's Mooresville Regional Office
recommended proceeding with the proposed plan. This letter will serve as the formal approval by the
to proceed with the proposed work plan.
If applicable, the results should also be incorporated into the revised geochemical and groundwater
fate and transport models for the entire site. If the results of the modeling show current or future
impacts to groundwater and/or surface water from this area, then appropriate remedial strategies shall
be proposed in the revised CAP.
If you have any questions, please contact Joanna Harbison (Mooresville Regional Office) at (704) 663-
1699 or Steve Lanter (Central Office) at (919) 707-3667.
Sincerely,
zio— -
