NOTICE OF A CITIZENS INFORMATIONAL WORKSHOP FOR
THE PROPOSED TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENTS TO
US 21 (SPARTA WESTERN LOOP)
FROM SR 1172 (GRANDVIEW DRIVE) TO US 21

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will hold the
above Citizens Informational Workshop on July 26, 2007 between the hours of
4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria of Alleghany High School located at 404
Trojan Avenue, Sparta. Interested individuals may attend this informal workshop
at their convenience during the above stated hours. Please note there will be no
formal presentation.
The purpose of this workshop is for NCDOT representatives to provide
information, answer questions, and accept written comments regarding this
project. Information presented at this workshop will be general in nature, as
detailed plans have not been prepared for the project.
NCDOT proposes to construct a two-lane roadway on new location from
SR 1172 (Grandview Drive) to US 21. The purpose of this project is to reduce
congestion on US 21 in downtown Sparta and improve connectivity between
Sparta Western Loop and US 21. Several alternatives will be presented for public
comments. Additional right of way and the relocation homes and businesses may
be required for construction.
