Dear Mr. Hunkele,
The February 2020 Discharge Monitoring Test Results indicated a Cyanide monthly average of 24.75 vs a Max
Limit of 17. Upon investigation the facility has discovered the following:
The manufacturing operation was processing a yarn that had a higher nitrogen content, during the February 51h
time frame, when sample was taken on February 51h. This in turn caused a high recorded Cyanide value for the
that day.
In addition the facility did not act and collect additional samples when this occurred, which would have shown the
monthly average to be under the Max Limit of 19.
The facility has since stopped using this yarn with high nitrogen content and all waste water operators are now
nformed as to what actions should take place, in the event a high weekly value is observed.
Since this occurrence, the Discharge Monitoring Test Results for March and April have shown weekly and
monthly values for Cyanide to be well below the defined limits.
Yours sincerely, .
