Located in Brunswick County, this site is designed to provide approximately 0.25 acres of mitigation restoration for wetland and streambank impacts associated with project B-2513. Vegetative monitoring commenced in December of 2002. NCDOT proposed to monitor the Hood Creek Bridge site for at least three years; only vegetation monitoring was conducted each year. After each growing season, annual monitoring reports were submitted to the appropriate regulatory agencies. There were approximately 0.25 acres of streambank and wetland restoration proposed for the site. During construction, NCDOT and USACOE personnel made adjustments in design, which resulted in eliminating anticipated impacts. Therefore no monitoring was required. During the annual monitoring report meeting on April 29, 2004, NCDOT and resource agencies agreed that the Hood Creek Bridge Mitigation Site could be closed and that monitoring could be discontinued. A site review was held on August 04, 2004 with representatives from NCDOT, CAMA, USCOE, WRC, USFWS, and EPA. It was decided at this site review that the Hood Creek Bridge Mitigation Site could be closed and monitoring discontinued. NCDOT requests that the appropriate resource agencies provide documentation stating that no further monitoring is required and that the site is closed.
