Section D: Summary of Finding/Comments (Attach additional sheets of narrative and checklists as necessary) Site was inspected on 7/27/2016 by Kevin Mitchell, Zan Price, and Tim Fox with the Asheville Regional Office. The owners were not present during the inspection. The site visit began with an evaluation of the water intake structure on Sorrels Creek followed by a walk through of the entire facility which contained two raceways, multiple small settling ponds, and an evaluation of the effluent discharge. The water intake appears to be withdrawing 2/3 of the flow from Sorrels Creek; however, it did not appear to be impacting water quality downstream in this pool -drop reach of Sorrels Creek. The raceways did not contain many fish (-25). Solids removal is recommended on the last raceway and all settling ponds. Make sure to use best management practices to complete the requested maintenance activity to avoid water quality standard violations in the receiving stream (e.g. instream sediment, turbidity, etc.). Downstream water quality below the outfall did not appear to be impacted with solids. All monitoring data and analytical results must be kept on site for a minimum of three years per General Permit NCG530000.
