RE: Geneva
Dear Sir or Madam:
This letter is to serve as a request to permit the changes being proposed for the sewer collection system of
a residential development in Fuquay-Varina in Wake County that do not meet state standards. The
proposed extension will serve sewer to the Geneva subdivisions approved by the Town of Fuquay-Varina.
The sewer will connect to the Geneva offsite sewer extension, previously approved.
Wetland Separation does not meet the minimum requirements for separation. For these areas we are
following 15A NCAC 2T 0.0305(f)
Crossings that do not meet the minimum separation set forth by the state will be ductile iron and inside a
concrete encasement, as acceptable per the standards set by the Town of Fuquay-Varina. In addition to the
concrete encasement, concrete cradles were used when necessary.
This is done at the following crossings:

Flow Reduction Approval
Wake County
On September 10. 2001, the Division of Water Quality Non Discharge Permittintr Unit received your
flow reduction request for future and present. but not yet tributary, single-family dwellings in the Town of
Fuquay-Varina. The letter requests approval of a residential flow value of 220 GPD/residence for these
dwellings.
The information provided water use information for 2000 and actual daily waste water flow recordings
for their peak month of May. Other supporting data was provided. The evaluation covered 90 homes that are
representative of the subdivisions in Fuquay-Varina in accordance with 15A NCAC 2H .0219(I)(3),
Based on the information submitted. the Division hereby approves the use of 75 GPD per bedroom
per dwelling for residential units (223 GPD per three bedroom home) in all applicable non discharge permit
applications for future sewer line extensions and present, but not yet tributary projects for the Town of Fuquay-
Varina. The Division did note that the average flow per residence in February 2000 was 271 GPD. Regardless
of the adiusted design daily wastewater flow rate, at no time shall the wastewater flows exceed the effluent
limits defined in the Town's NPDES ermit for the treatment facility or exceed the capacity of the sewers
downstream of any new sewer extension
Please submit a separate letter to the Raleigh Regional Office that requests flow reductions for
specific previously permitted projects (indicate permit number, project name, permitted flow, new now
udder reduction and the difference between them). If you have any questions or comments regarding this
matter, please contact Marie Doklovic at (919)733-5083 ext. 371.

I checked with Shayne and he said that none of the sewer in the application is deemed "High priority" sewer.
Let me know if you need anything else.

Ed,
Just got the email reply that Shayne Leathers is no longer working with WithersRavenel. Please address the message
below sent to Shayne and Jay earlier:
We are reviewing the subject application. With the large amount of linear footage of sewer line in this project (>14,000
If), we just wanted to confirm there are no high priority sewer lines as defined in the 2T rules below:
"High -priority sewer" means any aerial sewer, sewer contacting surface waters, siphon, sewer positioned parallel to
streambanks that is subject to erosion that undermines or deteriorates the sewer, or sewer designated as a high priority
in a Division -issued permit if the sewer does not meet minimum design requirements.
Thx

Hi Trent,
We are reviewing a fast track app for Fuquay for a residential project called Geneva Phases 5-11. There is no flow
associated with this permit. Flow will be permitted in subsequent permits.
This will be trib to N. Harnett.
Any concerns with us issuing this permit?
We'll cc you on the permit when issued.

Hello,
I would probably inquire as to when they intend to modify the permit to make flow tributary - for
clarification in the permitting record as well as to ascertain if it is actually a construction -only dry line for
now or if it's really just no flow quite yet. The permit should either have the standard condition that no
flow shall be made tributary until a modification is submitted to and approved by the Division, and the
engineer's certification received OR we could make it construction only if they intend to modify it in the
future to add flows (which is similar, but looks a little different). Hopefully that makes some sense.
Thanks!
