Send all suspicious attachment to reoort.spamPnc.gov Kevin, The attached impact map has been revised to include a typical channel relocation section. As you can see, the proposed channel will mimic the width, depth and slopes of the existing channel. I have also attached the calculations for the upstream constructed channel. The slope is relatively steep (-6%) which results in a 10-yr velocity of 8.75 ft/s and a shear stress of 2.93 Ibs/ft2. The attached calculations indicate that Class '1' rip -rap is stable under these conditions, while biodegradable blankets are not. Let me know if you have any further questions. In addition, can you please provide the channel dimensions for the constructed channel upstream of the culvert as well as velocity and shear stress calculations that provide justification for the use of rip rap above the proposed culvert. Send all suspicious email as an -aamtmr(@nc.gov Kevin/Amanda, This email is in follow-up to my phone conversation with Kevin today. Kevin asked for some clarification for the proposed stream impacts. Specifically, Kevin requested a breakdown of the proposed impacts specifically for the culvert, rip -rap disspator and constructed channel, as well as some information on the stabilization of the constructed channel. I had our engineers modify the impact exhibit to show the additional breakout of the impacts as requested, which is attached. The proposed impacts consist of: • Impact 1-39 LF 0 1A (Culvert) — 8 LF 0 1B (Constructed Channel) — 31 LF • Impact 3 — 52 LF 0 3A (Culvert) —11 LF 0 3B (Rip -Rap Dissipator) — 41 LF In regards to stabilization of the constructed channel on the upstream end of the pipe, the design changed slightly since we submitted the application, with the stabilization now being rip -rap. Based on the velocity of flow coming into the culverts during a storm, stabilization of the constructed channel with biodegradable matting was likely to fail. So the design has been changed to stabilize the constructed channel with rip -rap. However, this does not affect the proposed stream impacts totals. As specified on the attached impact plan, the constructed channel will be graded to match the existing natural channel geometry (width & depth). By constructing the new channel to mimic the existing channel width, the base flow depth will be maintained. Additionally, the rip -rap will installed the same as the dissipator, with the rip -rap being embedded in the banks and bed of the constructed channel such that aquatic life movement will not be impeded. Amanda — I just realized that I never received an email from an RPA noting that the project had been logged and providing the AID #. Can you please confirm that you received our application?
