4. Proposed Activity
Provide a detailed description of the proposed activity including its purpose and include the type of equipment to be used:
There is a ravine between the house and the lake. We propose building a
boardwalk over the ravine to allow easy access to the lake for the homeowners.
This would be a 8' wide wood slatted deck structure spanning over the ravine. This
raised structure would be supported by timber pilings similar to a pier.

Comments:
The boardwalk would have little to no impact on the ravine. Water only flows through
the bottom of the ravine during a rain. Shortly after the rain stops, the water flow
recedes and then no water is in the bottom of the ravine. The raised boardwalk will
be constructed similar to a pier to allow easy access to the lake for the
homeowners.
D. Impact Justification and Mitigation
1. Avoidance and Minimization
1a. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts in designing the project.*
The boardwalk will be built by manual labor requiring no machines at the build site.
1b. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts through construction techniques.*
Boardwalk materials will be hand delivered to the site. Tools will be small power tools
to cut and join materials.
E. Diffuse Flow Plan
1a. What type of SCM are you providing?*
E Level Spreader
r Vegetated Conveyance (lower SHWT)
r Wetland Swale (higher SHWT)
V Proposed project will not create concentrated stormwater flow through the
buffer
F— Other SCM that removed minimum of 30% nitrogen

Additional Comments:
This is a small project but because it sits in the buffer, Charlotte Zoning is requiring
a buffer authorization before issuing a permit to construct the boardwalk.
