Subject: Ocracoke Island sandbag alignment shift Letter of Refinement
Attachments: Ocracoke sandbag shift LOR May 2020.pdf
Hello,
Attached please find a Letter of Refinement for CAMA Major Permit No. 24-03 in response to the N.C. Department of
Transportation (NCDOT) letter dated April 20, 2020 regarding the NC 12 Ocracoke Island Dune Reconstruction project,
including three drawings dated April 9, 2020. Previously, the Minor Modification of CAMA Major Permit No. 24-03 that
was issued on April 3, 2020 authorized NCDOT to shift the 1,005-foot section of sandbags on Sheet 9 southward by
approximately 200 linear feet from the alignment that was approved by the Minor Modification that was issued on
January 31, 2020. NCDOT now proposes to shift the 1,005-foot section of sandbags on Sheet 9 southward for an
additional 300 linear feet from the alignment that was approved by the Minor Modification that was issued on April 3,
2020. The total linear footage of sandbags on Sheet 9 will remain the same. A Special Use Permit was issued by NPS on
5/1/20 authorizing the current proposal by NCDOT, including the updated alignment of the sandbags.
A paper copy of the attached letter will be sent to NCDOT in Edenton.
Please let me or Greg Daisey know if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Cathy Brittingham
