Looks like we managed last nights rain ok, as I have only received one report of sediment loss today. It’s for R-2603, HWY 268, in Wilkes County. At station 48+50 Rt, we lost sediment to a SDO, which led to a pipe, which lead to a ditch, and then to a UT of Mulberry Creek. Luckily, the sediment had to travel through a couple structures and the ditch before entering the creek. Overall, they reported 10 buckets of sediment total removed from the SDO, the ditch, and the receiving stream. They did not specify how much came from the creek, but that the majority came from the SDO and ditch. We have asked them to “bulk” up the 57 stone at the SDO and to seed and mat any bare ground around the SDO. Thanks and let me know if you need additional information, Kevin Kevin Hining Division 11 Environmental Officer North Carolina Department of Transportation 336 903 9129 office 828-386-7202 cell kjhining@ncdot.gov 801 Statesville Rd.
