VACUUM RECOVERY TANK SYSTEM 2. HOLDING TANK SYSTEM 3. BATCH CLARIFIER SYSTEM 4. FILTER PRESS SYSTEM CONSISTING OF: a. WASTE MAKE-UP TANK W/STIRRER b. FILTER PRESS PRECOAT TANK c. FILTER PRESS d. OIL/WATER SEPARATION TANK S. PENTA RECOVERY TANK 6. REMEDIATION WELL WATER HOLDING TANK SOURCES OF MATERIALTHAT RUNSTHROUGH THE WWTS 1. PIT WATER 2. PENTA STORAGE TANK WATER 3. TANK FARM WATER 4. RAINWATER -if no contamination goes straight to CCA water tanks S. TANK TRUCKS OF WATER FROM SISTER FACILITIES 6. REMEDIATION WELLS— straight to CCA water tanks 7. BOILER BLOWOOWN 8. TANK/CYLINDER CLEAN OUTS PRIMARY OPERATION OF SYSTEM Vacuum Recovery Tank System 1. Pit Water, Penta Storage Tank Water, Tank Farm Water and rainwater are brought into the Vacuum Recovery Tank and allowed to separate. 2. Air pressure is then used to blow contents to the appropriate tank: a. Water to holding tank system b. Sludge goes to the waste makeup tank at the fitter press c. Residual Penta goes to the penta recovery tank Holding Tank System (Consists of two tanks tied together) Holds water until placed into batch clarifier (5,000 gals) Batch Clarifier System The batch clarifier is a. 5,000 gallon tank used to chemically treat water and remove impurities. 1. Flocculent (K2005A) is pumped into the clarifier from a small holding tank. Once solids are seen in water, then: 2. Pump in coagulant (274FLX) from a 55-gallon tank 3. NOTE: pH may affect the coagulation of solids and caustic may need to be added to produce the proper particle size 4. clean water goes to the CCA water tanks (makeup) 5. Sludge goes to waste makeup tank at the filter press Filter Press System The liquid portion pumps through the filter press and discharges into the oil/water separator. The dry filter cake is placed into properly labeled and dated hazardous waste containers to be shipped out to an approved TSDF. 1. The filter press cloths must be precoated with perlite from the precoat tank as a filter aid. 2. Material from the waste makeup tank (Ensure agitator is running) is run through the filter press. The solids are captured within the press and residual liquid goes into the oil/water separation tank. a. Monitor pressure to determine w hen it is time to drop the filter cake b. Material placed in the oil/water separation tank: i. Water is pumped back into the Holding tank system to recycle through the system again ii. Oils/Penta are pumped into the Penta Recovery Tank for reuse. Remediation Wells Process 1. Remediation welts pump to an oillwater separation tank at the old pole milt. a. Water is pumped to the remediation well water holding tank at the W WTS and then to the CCA water tanks (makeup) b. Oil is pumped into a tote and brought to the filter press oil/water separation tank Sister Facility Water Process Sister facility water comes in a bulk tank truck or tote. For the bulk tank truck loads, the material is placed drrecdy into the batch darlIier(which must be empty to accept most of the load). Any remaining water is placed into the holding tank system. MAINTENANCE The system consists of pumps, piping, valves, and tanks. A weekly W W recycle facility inspection is performed to ensure that the system is functioning properly and no maintenance is needed. The WW Recycle Facility Weekly Inspection includes: • Containment inspection • Piping/Valves/pumps • Tank Inspection • Releases • Operating within proper parameters There is a Maintenance repair report to document repairs made to the W WTS.
