Corey, I was just looking through BIMS and I realized that the last Stoneville Quarry (NC0027987) inspection report by Ron Boone on 9/29/10 states that the site is inactive: "Facility remains inactive until further notice. Unknown at this time whether or not Vulcan will again want to again renew this permit in 2012. Facility looked good. No concerns annotated during inspection. Please refer to attached summary letter." Their permit was just renewed on 5/1/12. 1 called Vulcan Materials and they said the Stoneville site was still inactive. Your assistance and cooperation during the inspection was greatly appreciated. Inspection findings are summarized below and an inspection report is attached for your records. The quarry is located on the west side of Taylor Road (State Road 1518), approximately 1.1 miles north of the intersection of Main Street and Simpson Street, in Stoneville, Rockingham County, North Carolina. The quarry discharges wastewater into receiving waters known as an unnamed tributary to Buffalo Creek, which is currently classified as Class WS-IV (water supply) waters in the Roanoke River basin. The facility consists of several settling/filtering ponds. The facility was clean and well maintained and no problems or issues were noted. The facility remains inactive and there are currently no plans to reopen it in the foreseeable future. The waiver for monthly monitoring reports and operator visitation remains in effect. This inspection verified the site's inactive status and that there is currently no wastewater discharge from the site. Please remember that immediately upon resumption of discharge from the facility Vulcan must begin monitoring in accordance with the terms and conditions of the permit. You must also notify the WSRO of the change in the facility's activity/status. Failure to do so is a violation of the permit and waiver letter. DWQ issued Vulcan a waiver for the submission of monthly monitoring reports and operator visitation requirements due to the facility's inactive status. This waiver is dated 9 May 2006. This inspection verified the site's inactive status and that there was no discharge at the time of the inspection. Please be mindful that immediately upon resumption of discharge from the facility, Vulcan. must begin monitoring in accordance with the terms of the permit and notify the WSRO of the change in activity/status. Failure to do so is a violation of the permit and waiver letter. 4. The exact point of discharge could not be identified during the inspection. Please identify the exact discharge point and visually monitor it during the period of inactivity to ensure that no discharges occur.
