This was due to a bearing on the mixer shaft failing. Charles Underwood was called in and the mixer was pulled out upon inspection we saw that a new shaft was also needed. The town rented pumps and kept fuel in them to try and keep the system going. I (Glenn Holland) also called Fayetteville DWR as well as NCRWA for thoughts on what other measures we could take to get the DO up in the basin. The plant staff tried to keep the plant in operation but due to the high temps were not able to maintain a good DO. Please note that with a system this size we only have one (1) aerator and no back -up in case of break down. Please see the attached invoices that will show the investment by the town to correct the problems. The Town of Newton Grove request that no fines be brought against the town in this matter. The town feels it acted in a reasonable matter to try and eliminate the violations as best as it could with the resources it had. Should you have any questions please feel free to contact the ORC Glenn Holland. Thank you, 14 411j,9 Charles R.
