I do apologize for not including the Catawba Riparian Buffer Notification form. I have reviewed your website and I am unable to find a copy of that form. Can you tell me where I may be able to find it? Is it listed by a different name? Also, is it acceptable to fill this form out and email it back to you? As far as clarification on the trees and grading: - All Trees along the bank are small, under 3" in diameter as well as have severely compromised roots systems as I believe is shown in the pictures I provided. I can email copies as well if needed to have more clarity. The bank is eroding out underneath them. - On grading, I understand grading out soil in the buffer zone is not allowed to leave disturbed dirt in that zone, however I was under the impression from you website that cutting the bank back to a 45 degree angle to allow for rip rap to be installed ofver it was allowed. Am I incorrect in how I interpreted this? Thank you for your help! I noticed that you didn't include a Catawba Riparian Buffer Notification form. Given that you plan on working in Lake Norman, this must be included in your application. Also, I noticed that there are several trees which you propose to remove. Only trees of less than 3" diameter at shoulder height may be removed. Anything larger must remain unless there is shown to be disease present or severe undermining of roots. Both must be documented by a licensed arborist and provided to this office. There would also need to be photo documentation provided in your application of any such trees. Additionally, as per the Catawba Buffer Rules, there is to be no grading within the buffer itself.
