Master Plan attached. With regards to the above referenced project, please find enclosed a master plan dated February 4, 2003, which shows eight (8) boat slips and one (1) boat ramp. Pebble Bay is situated on approximately 489 acres with a total shoreline of 7,078.57 linear feet. Based on Duke Powers' Lake Management Shoreline Management Plan map dated July 1, 2001 there is a total of 2,133.45 linear feet of 2's, which is classified commercial residential. There will be no dredging associated with the boat slips. The shoreline will be stabilized at the boat slip access lot associated with the boat slips. This facility will not require a pump-out based on Duke Power's guidelines for pump outs at commercial marinas. Application is hereby being made to Duke Power Company for the required FERC permit to construct these boat slips and ramp. The enclosed plan shows the location of these boat slips as well as Duke Power's Shoreline Management Plan Shoreline Classifications. The environmental areas will in no way be impacted. Definition Bio-en veering is an effective scientific method, using a combination of natural and living rrt'atertals, to stabilize eroded banks along the shoreline. Bio-engineering techniques vary according to a number of factors, including but not limited to; slope, soil type and wave action. Often a combination of techniques may be utilized to most effectively control erosion in areas with varying conditions. B. Benefits In addition to controlling erosion, and the aesthetic value of a more natural shoreline, the use of native plants create additional habitat for wildlife. A permit and written authorization for any shoreline stabilization project is required from Duke Power, Lake Management. By utilizing bio- engineering as the primary stabilization technique, the permit application fee for shoreline stabilization is waived. t Mote.
