Dear Mr. Smith:
In accordance with the NC Environmental Management Commission Special Order by
Consent, EMC SOC WQ S17-009, Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC (Duke) is hereby
submitting this notification that decanting of the ash basin was completed on March 3,
2020. This notice fulfills Duke's obligation found in the subject Order's Section 2. b.

I certify, under penalty of law, that this document and all attachments were prepared under
