The Permits and Engineering Unit has completed a preliminary engineering review of the subject
application. The following items must be addressed before we can complete our review:
In accordance with 15A NCAC 211 .0219 (i) (2) (G) (ii), a water line must cross at least 18
inches above a sanitary sewer line. If this minimum distance is not possible, the sewer line
must be constructed of DIP. Please correct the following locations on you profiles to comply
with the regulated separations: Sheet 2 of 2, Between MH#3 and MH#4 the existing 8 inch
water line is not 18 inches, Sheet 2 of 2 between MH#5 and MH#10 shows a water line not
separated by 18 inches.
2. In accordance with 15A NCAC 2H .0219 (i) (2) (G) (i), a minimum vertical separation of 12
inches must be maintained where storm sewers cross the sanitary sewer (including force
mains). Please revise the following sheet(s) of your plans to conform to this requirement:
Sheet 2 of 2 between MH#5 and MH#10, needs 1 foot cover.
3. The Division cannot approve plans affixed with a stamp of "Preliminary"`- or "Not For
Construction." Please forward two copies of your plans, without such a stamp, to my
attention. A note which reads "FINAL DESIGN -Not Released For Construction" will be
acceptable if so desired by the applicant.
4.In accordance with 15A NCAC 2H .0219 (1) (1), the Division requires that a value of 120 GPD
per bedroom, with a minimum value of 240 GPD per unit, be used to calculate the estimated
volume of wastewater generated for residential dwelling units (DU). Please indicate the
specific number of bedrooms per DU, and recalculate the total flow volume estimate using this
figure. If the recalculated value is different from that originally calculated, please revise page 2
of your application and forward 3 signed and sealed copies of that page to my attention.
Note: If the total volume estimate doesn't change, please call me with the information regarding
the specific number of bedrooms, or just include the info in a letter to my attention. (There is
no need to revise the application in that case.)
