Based on the current guidance to minimize the spread of COVID-19, the Department of Environmental Quality has
adjusted operations to protect the health and safety of the staff and public. Many employees are working remotely or
are on staggered shifts. To accommodate these staffing changes, all DEQ office locations are limiting public access to
appointments only. Please check with the appropriate staff before visiting our offices, as we may be able to handle your
requests by phone or email. We appreciate your patience as we continue to serve the public during this challenging
time.

Hi Bethany,
As requested, here is a short description, including outfall lat/long and confirmation of receiving water, for the
drainage areas and outfalls at Speedy's Used Parts.
Outfall 002:
Lat/Long: 35°34'33.90" N 82°39'21.70" W
• Outfall 002 is located in the northeast quadrangle of the facility, along the fence line and Ragsdale
Creek. Industrial activity that takes place in this drainage area is limited to the storage of
vehicle carcasses. Stormwater Discharge from this outfall will enter Ragsdale Creek.
Outfall 003:
Lat/Long: 35°34'30.28" N 82°39'17.40" W
Outfall 003 is located in the southeast corner of the facility, along the fence line. Industrial activity that
takes place in this drainage area is also limited to the storage of vehicle carcasses. Stormwater Discharge
from this outfall will enter Ragsdale Creek.
Outfall 004:
Lat/Long: 35°34'30.23" N 82°39'21.53" W
• Outfall 004 is located in the southeast quadrangle of the facility, along the fence line. Industrial activity
that takes place in this drainage area represents the bulk of facility operations including dismantling,
parts storage, crushing, and the storage of vehicle carcasses. Stormwater Discharge from this outfall will
enter Ragsdale Creek.
Please let me know if you need any additional information.
Thanks,

Good morning, Kyle,
I checked our outfall collection data, and this permittee never submitted outfall information with locations. There
were instructions with the renewal letter back in 2017 on how to do that (not the most recent renewal), attached.
You don't need to go back and enter those, though. If you can provide me the following information about outfalls
002, 003, and 004, 1 will be glad to go ahead and enter them into our permitting database:
Latitude and longitude coordinates for each
Brief description for the drainage area to include for each (very short)
Confirmation that all outfalls eventually drain to Ragsdale Creek (that's listed on the COC). If not, I need to know the
waterbody and index number for it.
Thanks,

Thank you for getting back to me Suzanne and Bethany,
The changes are for Speedy's Used Parts (NCG100097)
Basically, the soil berm has been extended/beefed up along the southern property line so that stormwater
previously in the drainage area of Outfall 001 gets conveyed to Outfall 004. Basically, Outfall 001 has been
closed and the facility now only has Outfalls 002, 003, and 004.
Let me know if you need any more information.

Kyle,
If you or the company contact can email me the information (permit number, outfall number, etc), I can include it
with the permit file. I will also make sure that it is removed from our database if it's been entered so it is not there for
future eDMR reporting.
