SUBJECT: Proposed Modification to CAMA Major Permit No. 24-03 to authorize the use of
alternative sandbags in the areas on Ocracoke Island that were previously authorized for
placement of approximately 5,223 linear feet of temporary erosion control structures
(sandbags) to protect NC Highway 12 on Ocracoke Island in Hyde County.

Sand bag fill material needs to be compatible sand and free of pollutants and debris. Care needs to be
taken that material scraped off the roadway does not contain pieces of asphalt.
