Although the equipment is relatively new, the hydraulic line near the bucket developed a hole resulting in a leak. The equipment was quickly shut down, but an estimated 2 to 3 gallons of hydraulic fluid was lost. The spill kit was onsite, and absorbent pads were deployed on the equipment. The spill happened in the area of the dune near the roadway, so no hydraulic fluid entered any waters onsite. A front end loader was used to remove the contaminated sand, and the contaminated sand will be removed from the island and properly disposed. Location of the spill was in the vicinity of Lat:35.167789, Long:-75.819052. Photo is attached. This incident was an equipment failure and not a result of negligence. The contractor reacted quickly to the incident and protective measures were taken. Please let me know if you have any questions or need additional information. Thanks, Paul C.
