The SAR and PAN calculation inconsistency that had occurred in the past has been correct in the 2019 AR. There is still a concern regarding the preservation method being implemented when shipping samples to the contract laboratory. The COCs presented in the AR vary in the temperature the lab is recording as the receiving temperature. The lab receiving temperature for the COC on January 3, 2019, indicated the receiving temperature of the samples received was 22.3 degrees Celcius. A temperature of 20 degrees Celcius is considered to be ambient room temperature. This temperature indicates the samples were not placed on ice before shipping the samples to the lab. The laboratory should be receiving the samples at temperatures below 6 degrees Celcius. Ice is considered to be an accepted method of preservation. In the future, please be sure that all samples are submitted to the contract lab are on ice. The contract lab should be able to provide the permittee with shipping coolers so the samples can be shipped on ice.
