Typical Cross Section Description:
The proposed typical section on either side of the bridge will be normal crown with cross
slope of 0.02, and consist of two 11' lanes with 2' paved shoulder and 3:1 side slopes to
existing ground. The bridge typical section will be supered towards RT with a 0.04 cross
slope, and consist of two 11' lanes with 4'-5" shoulder.
Existing roadways consists of two 11' lanes, with 3' unpaved shoulders.

General Project Narrative:
(Description of Minimization of Water
Quality Impacts)
State project 48826.1.1 will consist of replacing the structurally deficient NCDOT bridge #650052 between SR 1313 and NC HWY 186 over Gumberry Swamp. The proposed
replacement structure is a 2-span (1@30'-0", 1 @65'-0") 21" PCCS and 24" PCCS, respectively with 2.5' caps with an out -to -out deck width of 30' which will replace the existing
4-span (1 @18'-1", 1 @16'-6", 1 @17'-3", 1 @17'-7"). Roadway fill slopes will be 3:1 or flatter except around bridge opening where they vary to 1.5:1, with a 4' vegetated shoulder,
to encourage a diffuse flow pattern and passive stormwater treatment. Roadway fill slopes are maintainated at 3:1 to minimize filling into the wetland sites. Stormwater runoff
from the bridge and roadway will be collected by traffic bearing grated inlets where it will be outlet at dissipator rip rap. Dissipator rip rap pads are used to minimize the velocity
of water into surrounding wetlands. 2 ditches, located at the northeast and northwest corners of the project will be used to maintain existing drainage patterns, also with
dissipator pads to discourage erosion.
No deck drains will be used for this project.
