Turf Care Operation and Maintenance Agreement
I will keep a record of testing, fertilization and maintenance of four specific turf areas within the
new short game practice area. The four areas will be defined as the "Greens', "Rough" "Fairway'
and the 10-ft wide "no fertilizer" area adjacent to the stream. This record will be kept in a log in a
known set location. Any deficient elements noted in the inspection will be corrected, repaired or
replaced immediately. These deficiencies can affect the health, safety of the public, and the
removal efficiency of the turf areas.
Important operation and maintenance procedures:
• Test the soil on an annual basis prior to the first application of fertilizer to determine nutrient
requirements.
• Fertilizer cannot be applied to impervious surfaces such as walkways, driveways, and
roadways. If fertilizer does land on impervious surfaces, it must be removed or
returned to the turf (such as by sweeping or blowing).
• Fertilizer containing N or P cannot be applied to frozen ground.
• No fertilizer is to be applied between December 1 and March 1.
• Delay scheduled fertilizer applications if heavy rain is forecast.
• Use slow release formulations to significantly reduced both leaching and surface runoff losses of
nutrients,
• Place nutrients into the thatch and soil through'light' irrigation.
• Time nutrient applications to coincide with turf needs.
• Monitor irrigation practices using the Spectrum TDR moisture meters, in relation to timing of
nutrient application to avoid removal of nutrients by surface flow.
Y The vegetation within the 10-ft "no fertilizer" area is to be maintained at a maximum height of 24"
to prevent trees from getting established in the area.
• Mow the "Green', "Fairway" and "Rough" as necessary to maintain the turf health and height
requirements.
After the turf is established, I will inspect it on a weekly basis from March to October and as required
outside of that period to maintain the health and appearance of the area. Records of operation and
maintenance will be kept in a known set location and will be available upon request.
Records will be maintained for the following items:
Date of Soil Testing
Soil Testing Results
Date of Fertilization
Fertilization Type
Application rate per acre % Nitrogen % Phosphorous
Visual Inspection Date Results
Any Remedial Action Required
Mowing Date(s): Greens Fairway _ Rough
